"Shout Back" is Broadway Phil and the Shouters'
2008 release. Ten songs, written by Phil Newton,
draw from the R&B, gospel and folk traditions
that are the bedrock of American music. From the
ferocious harmonica/slide roar of Train and the
Bo Diddley poetry of Diamonds to the twilight
guitar lament of Been and Gone, "Shout Back" aims
straight for the heart.
Recorded at Hartkop Productions in Southern Oregon,
"Shout Back" features spare, slightly-vintage
production, with the basic tracks recorded live.
The crystaline "Hartkop Reverb" enhances the roots
stylings of "Shout Back," taking the listener on a
journey back to the future.
Following up their first project, "Rock Bottom,"
the Shouters crafted "Rhythm and Dues" with care
over several years. The resulting arrangements jump
off the tracks and cut a whole new R&B groove:
a hard-driving, rock-steady soul-fest designed
to blow the dust off your speakers.
